Boca Raton weddings have a distinctive style. The city's Mediterranean Revival architecture, much of it inspired by architect Addison Mizner in the 1920s, sets an elegant tone, and many Boca weddings take place at country clubs, golf clubs and resort ballrooms. Guest lists often span three or four generations. We've been DJing weddings across South Florida since 1997, and Boca's mix of formality and fun is one we enjoy.
Country club weddings
Country and golf clubs are among Boca's most popular wedding venues, especially for members and their families. They're wonderful partners, and they run on rules. Here's what to expect, and how we handle it:
- Vendor requirements. Most clubs require proof of liability insurance, and many have a vendor policy or approved list. Starlight is insured, and we provide a certificate of insurance (COI) to your club on request, with any wording they require.
- Load-in and setup windows. Clubs often host more than one event a day. We arrive in the window we're given, set up efficiently and stay out of the way of staff.
- Firm end times. Club events typically end on schedule. With our unlimited-time, flat-rate pricing you never pay overtime, but we'll also pace the evening so the last dance lands perfectly within the club's schedule.
- Dress and decorum. We dress to suit a formal room and keep our setup tidy, with no cable spaghetti across the ballroom.
- Working with the catering director. At clubs, the catering or events director often runs the timeline. We coordinate closely with them on every announcement.

A dance floor for every generation
Boca weddings frequently include grandparents, parents, the couple's friends and lots of kids, all in the same room. A playlist that only works for one group empties the floor for everyone else. We build the night in waves:
- Dinner: standards and soft classics that grandparents love and everyone can talk over.
- First dance sets: a mix of timeless songs that bring every generation up, from Motown to the '80s.
- Peak hours: current hits and party anthems for the couple's friends, blended with crowd favorites so parents stay on the floor.
- Late night: whatever the room is telling us it wants.
Our must-play songs by era guide shows how we think about it.
Traditions and special moments
Boca is home to families from many traditions, and we're happy to plan for yours, whether it's a hora with the chairs held high, a cultural processional, a money dance, a choreographed family dance or a sentimental anniversary dance that invites every married couple to the floor. The key is planning: tell us the moments, the songs and who's involved, and we'll make sure the music and announcements are right. See our wedding MC page for how we handle the hosting.
Lighting a classic ballroom
Club and resort ballrooms are often decorated in neutral tones. That's a perfect canvas for uplighting. For a classic Boca look, consider warm champagne, soft blush or gold during dinner, with richer color for dancing. Our uplighting color guide has ideas for elegant palettes.
Photo booth for the whole family
At multi-generation weddings, the photo booth is a favorite. Grandparents in feather boas and kids in oversized sunglasses make photos families keep forever. A scrapbook copy of every strip doubles as a guest book.

Season
Boca's social calendar peaks from late fall through spring, when seasonal residents are in town and clubs are busiest. Popular Saturdays book early, so start your search as soon as your venue is confirmed. Summer weddings are quieter and often more flexible.

Working with a country club's rules
Country club and private club receptions are common in and around Boca Raton, and clubs usually have more structured vendor requirements than other venues. It's normal to see:
- A certificate of insurance requirement, often with the club named as an additional insured. We're insured and provide the COI your venue requests.
- Load-in windows and routes, sometimes through a service entrance and only during a set time.
- Strict end times and sometimes sound limits. Music typically has to end at a set hour, and the volume may have to stay lower in rooms near residences or other events.
- Dress codes for vendors. We dress for the room.
- A banquet captain or club event manager who runs the timeline with the kitchen. We coordinate with them on arrival.
None of these make a club wedding harder for you, but they do reward a DJ who's used to working within them. When you request a quote, mention the club so we can ask the right questions ahead of time.
